It gives me great pleasure to address members of The Oxford and Cambridge Society, Malaysia (Oxbridge).
I am indeed honoured to lead such an august and active Society. I accepted the presidential nomination due to encouragement from immediate Past Presidents, Ms. Elizabeth Lee Fuh Yen and Datin Shalini Ganendra, and of course, with pledged support from members of the previous and current committees.
The two universities have produced thousands of graduates who have done this country proud by becoming leaders in government, captains of industry and heads of institutions. For the last ten years, a total of 727 and 676 Malaysian students were conferred graduates and postgraduate degrees at Cambridge and Oxford respectively.
Many of us have fond memories of our university days. The strong bonds of friendship, goodwill and understanding have withstood the passage of time. It is the Society’s wish to keep in touch with alumni across generations to strengthen this bond, network and nurture links with present students.
The main purpose of this website is to promote social, recreational and cultural activities among members.
By joining this Society, there are opportunities for the alumni of the two universities to contact each other. Our website also has a CAREERS section for job opportunities, while the EVENTS link highlights past and present activities. Through this website, members will be kept up to date with the development and events of the Society such as the annual Boat Race Event and Dinner, talks, monthly informal events, black-tie dinners and English Language Debate, etc.
I take this opportunity to thank our Past Presidents and members especially, Ms. Elizabeth Lee and Datin Shalini Ganendra for their dedication and hard work in bringing the name of Oxford and Cambridge Society to its present glory.
And finally to the present committee members, keep Oxbridge spirit alive!
Thank you.
Ir Dr Gue See Sew
President
